Dumb-da-dumb-dumb

Census 2010 is here.

LL was right. Why did I have to get a letter telling me it was coming in the mail and that filling the form out was mandatory? (Or else, what?)

Why did the form have another letter with it telling me it was a Census form and I should fill it out TODAY? (Or else, what???)

The waste of money is mind-boggling.

I get really tired of all of the dumbing down that goes on these days. Don't you get tired of it too? Schools do it. Stores do it. TV has always done it.

Have you seen the new traffic lights that have a blinking yellow arrow now? Just in case you didn't already know that you don't turn in front of oncoming traffic cuz you might get slammed... Really? Whew. Thanks, government. You saved me from sure and utter disaster once again.

My kids are reading To Kill A Mockingbird at school. The teacher has them act out portions of chapters, instead of reading the chapters. The kids have no clue what they are doing. Then they watch a piece of the film that is way out of context and take a quiz on it to make sure they are following the book.... Wow. Would it kill these "educators" to actually READ the BOOK and require that the kids do the same?

Not a week goes by that the school doesn't show a video as a babysitter in one class or another. No, they are not part of the curriculum. That is, I don't think The Incredibles or Bolt are part of the coursework. What's up with this? When I asked why the movie was played and what relevance it had to the class, they kids were as baffled as I. They say the teachers put on the film and leave the room.

Where is the blank on the Census form for this kind of crap? Epic fail!
